SweepLoom

Download · v0.1.0

Install SweepLoom from source.

One Cargo command builds the CLI and MCP server on Windows, macOS and Linux. The desktop app builds from a clone. Packages on crates.io and npm are coming soon.

Requirements

  • Git, to fetch the source.
  • Rust via rustup: 1.88 or newer for the CLI and library, 1.95 or newer for the desktop app. Get it at rustup.rs. Inside a clone, rust-toolchain.toml pins the toolchain and rustup installs it on the first build.
  • No account, no key, no network at run time. SweepLoom is local-first.
1

CLI and MCP server

Builds and installs two binaries into ~/.cargo/bin (%USERPROFILE%\.cargo\bin on Windows): sweeploom, the CLI, which serves MCP as sweeploom mcp, and sweeploom-companion-host for the optional browser companion. There is no separate sweeploom-mcp binary.

install
$ cargo install --locked --git https://github.com/Weavatrix/sweeploom sweeploom
check it works
$ sweeploom --help$ sweeploom mcp --list$ sweeploom clean .

Update by running the same line with --force. Remove with cargo uninstall sweeploom. Working from a clone? Use cargo install --path crates/sweeploom-cli --locked.

2

Desktop app

The desktop app is a native Rust (egui) reviewer for Windows, macOS and Linux with nine tabs, from Overview and Sessions to Cleanup, Projects and AI, and a tray icon on Windows and macOS. It needs Rust 1.95 or newer and is optional; the CLI and MCP server do not need it. Tour the tabs.

build and run from a clone
$ git clone https://github.com/Weavatrix/sweeploom.git$ cd sweeploom$ cargo run --release -p sweeploom-gui
or install it as a sweeploom-gui binary
$ cargo install --locked --git https://github.com/Weavatrix/sweeploom sweeploom-gui

macOS: build the signed app bundle

macOS ties folder permissions to an app's code signature. A cargo run binary gets a new ad-hoc identity on every rebuild, so macOS keeps asking for Documents, Downloads or Desktop access. The signed bundle keeps one identity across updates.

from the clone
$ python3 scripts/macos-app.py$ open target/SweepLoom.app
  • Needs a valid code-signing identity in your keychain. List them with security find-identity -v -p codesigning; with more than one, set SWEEPLOOM_SIGN_IDENTITY or pass --identity.
  • Quit the running app before updating. The script refuses an incompatible update and never falls back to an ad-hoc signature.
  • --no-build packages an existing release binary; SWEEPLOOM_RUST_TOOLCHAIN picks another toolchain.

macOS: Mac App Store edition (coming soon)

A sandboxed build of the same desktop app is coming to the Mac App Store for USD 1.99. It is in TestFlight testing and is not on sale yet. It makes no network connections, starts no other programs and collects no data. The full edition on this page stays free and open source.

Connect your coding agent

Add SweepLoom as an MCP server in Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json), Claude Desktop, or any MCP host that launches stdio servers. Every host, with its config path: MCP setup.

mcp.json
{  "mcpServers": {    "sweeploom": {      "command": "sweeploom",      "args": ["mcp"]    }  }}
Claude Code
$ claude mcp add -s user sweeploom -- sweeploom mcp
Codex · ~/.codex/config.toml
[mcp_servers.sweeploom]command = "sweeploom"args = ["mcp"]

Reload the host, then ask: “Use SweepLoom to list cleanup_candidates for this repo. Do not apply yet.” If a host started from the Dock or Start menu cannot find sweeploom, use the absolute path to the binary. The Codex plugin adds review skills on top; see MCP → Codex plugin.
